“Vortex of Vision” – Project Description

Dimensions and Structure:

• Height: 16 meters (approximately 52.5 feet)
• Width: 7 meters per side panel (approximately 23 feet)

• Corridor Width: 7 meters (approximately 23 feet) between the two side panels
• Diamond Circumference: 1 meter (approximately 3.28 feet) suspended at the center of gravity

“Vortex of Vision” is a monumental sculpture designed to be both a visual and experiential landmark in Bayshore Park. The structure is composed of two towering reflective aluminum panels, each standing 16 meters tall and 7 meters wide. These panels are positioned parallel to one another, creating a 7-meter-wide corridor that invites viewers to walk through and engage with the installation.

The panels themselves are 70 centimeters thick, giving them a substantial yet elegant presence. The surface of each panel is meticulously crafted from mirror-polished aluminum, designed to reflect the natural surroundings—trees, sky, water, and light—thereby creating a dynamic visual interplay that changes throughout the day.

At the heart of the structure is a suspended diamond, perfectly balanced at the center of gravity. With a circumference of 1 meter, this diamond serves as the focal point of the installation, capturing and reflecting light in a myriad of directions. The diamond’s suspension between the two panels symbolizes equilibrium and invites viewers to ponder the invisible forces of gravity and energy that keep it in place.

Immersive Experience:

“Vortex of Vision” is designed to offer an immersive experience that engages the senses and emotions of the viewer, transforming their perception of the environment and themselves. The sculpture achieves this through its interaction with light, sound, and the natural elements, as well as the advanced AI technology that continuously evolves the installation.

1. Visual Immersion:

   • As visitors approach “Vortex of Vision,” they are greeted by the mirrored panels, which reflect the surrounding park, creating the illusion that the sculpture is part of the landscape. The reflections change with the movement of the sun, clouds, and people, making each visit unique.
   • Walking through the 7-meter corridor between the panels, visitors are enveloped in the reflections, which create a sense of infinite space. The suspended diamond above them glows with captured light, casting intricate patterns on the ground and surrounding surfaces, further enhancing the visual experience.

2. Sound and AI Interaction:

   • The sculpture integrates AI-driven technology that captures ambient sounds from the park—such as rustling leaves, bird calls, and distant conversations—and transforms these sounds into visual projections on the sculpture’s surface. This dynamic interaction creates a symbiotic relationship between the environment and the artwork, making the sculpture a living, breathing entity.
   • As visitors pass through or around the sculpture, the AI system responds to their presence, subtly altering the light projections and soundscapes, creating a personalized and immersive experience.
