BAZ, THE TIME TRAVELER
is the original installation assembled and shown for only one day in South Point, Miami Beach Park. In February 2017
Perforating the plates with specific designs and patterns with crystals insertion, adding light and fogging smoke, or just adding architectural forms at each lower end to simulate an organic life around BAZ felt more fun. I guess I have special feeling for things that makes sense :).
I wish for my creation to provide the same harmonious and magical energy into your home as the warm light of the sunset, the sparks of the city lights, the parallel clean lines of the side plates as the dividers of the two worlds we’re always in between: We are the present stuck in between the past and the future. But we are the light that keeps shining through.
The philosophy:
We are made out of multiple unique assembled cell components as BAZ is.
Even though the shape does not represent a human body it is designed with the same principles and philosophy.
- texture
- reason to exist
- quality of make
- and self-purpose
Through our time on earth, our lives remain the light that ties the two worlds. BAZ is a solid yet fine and fragile sculpture representing life through time itself.
“As humans, we are the product of the past, and the worker for the future, we are in the middle like today between yesterday and tomorrow. Because as humans we are made of patterns just like BAZ which encompasses the past, the present and the future” – Marianne Nems
The vision:
I have a special feeling for things that makes sense, and BAZ is one of them.
I wish for my design to provide the same harmonious and positive energy into people’s lives as the warm light of the sunset, the sparks of the city lights, and the parallel clean lines of the side plates as the dividers of the two streams we’re always in between:
The past and the future.
The story behind the concept:
I love the sunset light, the magic of its hues reflecting on us, and the walls of our buildings. The calming feeling in which everything fades out. Where the feeling that all the challenges and the headaches of a long day are all behind. Once the sun sets behind the horizon it truly leaves its place for another magical visual, the city lights, the stars, and the moon inspiring another world beyond.
The sunset marks the end of a journey but also brings a sense of continuity and renewal. The sunset gives me this great feeling of hope looking forward to better days to come. The feeling of accomplishment of what has elapsed and the gratefulness for the gift of life fills my heart and brings out the passion the sharing my happiness. Those overwhelming feelings of regeneration inspire me and bring out the urge of creating.
On one warm summer evening, I reached out to my sketchbook that I leave always very close by with a pen ready to roll on paper, as if I was going to get an idea at any moment, responding to an emergency. I started drawing straight parallel square plates then I connected them to each other with two bridges then came the center plate with a candle that I placed in the middle, it just came on its own, every line just came in place instinctively.
As an instinct just quick few lines to express what I was feeling: Two worlds, the one behind – the past – and the one beyond – the future, and me: Life – in the middle bringing light through both worlds, tying both and going along with it: The Present.
